Your conversation.
Nobody else's.
WhisperChat connects you directly to the person you're talking to — no company server in the middle, no message logs, no data stored. Create an account in seconds and start chatting. No download needed.
The problem
Every app you use to “chat privately” keeps a copy of your messages.
WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, Slack — when you send a message, it travels to a company's server first. That server decrypts it, stores it, and re-encrypts it before forwarding. The company holds a copy. So does their backup. So does their legal team, if asked.
Even “end-to-end encrypted” apps still know who you talked to, when, and how often. That metadata tells a story too.
No one can read your messages or hear your calls — not hackers, not governments, not us. The encryption key never leaves your device.
Your conversations are ephemeral by design. Like words spoken in an empty room, once the tab closes, they're gone forever. No archive. No trace. No regrets.
The difference
Most apps: your message visits a server first.
Ours doesn't.
Typical messaging app
You
Company server
Stores · Reads · Logs
Recipient
- ✗ Server can be hacked
- ✗ Company can be subpoenaed
- ✗ Metadata (who + when) is retained
- ✗ “Deleted” messages may persist in backups
WhisperChat
You
Recipient
No server in the path. Messages go directly, device to device.
- ✓ Nothing to hack — no central server
- ✓ Nothing to subpoena — we hold no data
- ✓ No metadata — we don't know who you are
- ✓ Messages vanish when you close the tab
Think of it like passing a note directly to someone vs. handing it to a postman who keeps a photocopy.
How it works
Private chat in 3 steps.
No downloads. No configuration. Your messages stay private.
Generate a link
Click “Start a Private Chat.” We create a unique, encrypted room and embed the encryption key directly in the link. The key never touches our server — it lives only in your browser.
Share the link
Send it to whoever you want to talk to — via Signal, email, or any channel. The link is the invitation and the key. Only someone with that exact link can join.
Chat directly
Once they open the link, your devices connect to each other. We act as a brief matchmaker to establish the connection, then step out completely. Your messages travel encrypted, directly between your devices.
Under the hood
Built on serious security primitives.
You don't need to understand the details — but if you're curious, here's what makes it solid.
AES-256-GCM
The same encryption standard used by banks, governments, and the military. Every message is encrypted before it leaves your device.
Key never leaves your browser
The encryption key lives in the URL fragment (#). Browsers never send the fragment to servers — not even to ours. We are physically incapable of decrypting your messages.
Minimal identity
We only store your email for login and account recovery — nothing else. No names, no profile data, no IP logging, no way to link a conversation to a person.
Who uses it
Privacy isn't just for hackers.
Journalists & sources
Communicate with sources without creating a paper trail that could expose them.
Legal & HR conversations
Discuss sensitive matters that shouldn't live on a company server indefinitely.
Freelancers & clients
Share contract details, rates, or feedback without it sitting in a platform's database.
Anyone who values privacy
Some conversations are simply nobody else's business. That's reason enough.
Questions
Common questions.
Is this for people with something to hide?
Privacy is a right, not a privilege for wrongdoers. Doctors, lawyers, and therapists have used private communication for centuries. Wanting your personal conversations to stay personal isn't suspicious — it's normal.
What if the other person screenshots my messages?
We protect the transmission — not the recipient. Once a message reaches someone, what they do with it is up to them. The same is true for any conversation, digital or not.
Do you store anything at all?
We store a temporary WebRTC handshake in server memory — a technical step required to establish the direct connection between two devices. It contains no message content and no identity information, only the connection negotiation data. It is deleted the moment both devices connect. Rooms where the guest never shows up are discarded after 5 minutes.
What happens when I close the tab?
The connection ends and the room is gone. There's nothing on our end to retrieve or reopen.
What personal data do you store?
Only your email address — and solely for two purposes: logging you in and letting you recover your account if you forget your password. No name, no profile, no usage history, no IP address. We cannot link any conversation to any person.
Does it work on mobile?
